Meet Our Staff

Radiation Oncology is a true team specialty and at ARC we are immensely proud to boast the finest technical, scientific and administrative staff that work alongside our Physician Radiation Oncologists.  While many of them work “behind-the-scenes”, they are all integral to achieving our commitment of medical excellence, compassionate care, and an unsurpassed experience using state-of-the-art technologies for our patients. Let’s meet the Team.

Our Medical Physics and Dosimetry Team

Chief Physicist – John Keane, MA

Radiation Oncology is a highly technology-based specialty, and our Physics Team is led by Board Certified Medical Physicists and includes Junior Physicists, Medical Dosimetrists, and support staff who use sophisticated computers to create three dimensional models of each patient’s anatomy in order to plan exactly how the radiation will be targeted to the areas at risk, while staying away from the healthy neighboring tissues.  In addition, our medical physics team provides physics and dosimetry services for many other practices and hospitals across the country (to learn more, email jkeane@iimppllc.com).

Medical Physicists are responsible for both maintaining the integrity and precision of the radiation technologies, as well as aiding the physicians in the planning, safety and delivery of radiation related to the machines (linear accelerators) that create and delivery radiation – as well as at the level of each patient’s individual radiation plan.

Medical Dosimetrists have the expertise necessary to generate radiation dose distributions and dose calculations in close collaboration with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist. Designing a patient’s treatment plan requires a delicate balance between delivering the physician’s prescribed dose while considering dose-limiting normal organs.

Our Radiation Therapy Technologists

Following the plans from the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicists, daily radiation treatments are delivered by Radiation Therapists – skilled healthcare technicians who are experts in the accurate delivery of radiation. They have undergone years of specialized training to earn the certification and title of an RTT:  Radiation Therapy Technologists or Radiation Therapists for short. In addition to their national certifications, the Radiation Therapists at ARC receive specialty training in all of ARC’s state-of-the-art technologies, and as such are among the most technologically-experienced group of radiation technologists in the country. In fact, ARC has been designated as a “Clinical Training Site” by the only Radiation Therapy Technology school in Long Island, and RTT-students train in both clinical and physics rotations at ARC’s Long Island facilities.

Our Administrative Support Staff

To ensure a comfortable and low-stress experience during this difficult time, our wonderful support staff is always here: From your first call to our offices, our front desk and reception staff treat you as if you were a member of our own family. We are always available to help with any special accommodations or requests you may have throughout your treatment. Our staff is pleased to answer any questions you may have or ensure you are put you in touch with a Medical Assistant or other member of our clinical or physician staff for more technical questions. At each ARC location, our office managers support these efforts and are available to help facilitate answers to you financial questions or put you in touch with our billing staff who are available to help you obtain referrals and answer questions related to your insurance and the billing processes.
